The Sky Deck Ledge

I may look like I'm ok with dangling 103 stories over Chicago, but I'm really petrified. It took a bit of coaxing to get me on the ledge. Keegan and Regina danced on/off, but Ryan had to nearly push me in to place!

Our 5 Year Old

Keegan turned 5 years old this past week, and what a great birthday celebration we had! We started off the day having our special waffle breakfast and opening her gifts from us and Regina. Then we headed out for our "adventure" downtown. We took public transportation to the Sears Willis Tower and went up to the 103rd floor sky deck. Stunning view of the city from up there, and we were lucky to have a crystal clear day. After the sky deck, we had lunch at Keegan's favorite restaurant Rainforest Cafe. Next we headed home for a small party with our family to close out her birthday.

Ryan and I gave Keegan a beta fish for her 5th birthday. We are all totally smitten, and Ryan is ecstatic to no longer be the only boy in the house!

Long Weekend Getaway

We rented a house on the Lake Michigan shores in New Buffalo, MI on Valentine's weekend. I had a few "use 'em or lose 'em" vacation days, so what better way to spend them than in Harbor Country? My happy place is in Michigan. I love the solitude, the nature, the beautiful lake, the wooded properties, the dogs running off leash, the restaurants...there is nothing I don't love about this neck of the woods. This is the first time we rented a house so close to the lake, and although it was FREEZING, we spent a good deal of time admiring the water. The waves on the shore were frozen in place, it was a really unique site for this city slicker.
