My favorite puppy

Here is a photo of my favorite puppy (~3 months old) at the shelter. He came in about two weeks ago and is so malnourished that he walks on his ankles partially. I've seen this before with some of the shelter dogs, it also happens when they are kenneled too long and don't have enough opportunity to walk and develop their joints and muscles properly. He is doing better now, but you can still see every bone in his body. At any rate, I fell in love with this guy at first sight because he looks just like my beloved Sidney, and has a similar malnourished background as my precious Sabrina. This one really hits home. I am waiting for the vets at the shelter to approve him for a foster home with one of our volunteers, but if anyone is interested before that...I've thought about just bringing him home myself, but I'm pretty sure Ryan would make me pack my bags!!

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a great New Years Celebration...we sure did. We rang in the new year at Disney World in sunny, 80 degree Orlando, Florida. To the left, you'll see the crew in front of the gigantic Christmas Tree at Hollywood Studios, and below here we are trekking out way through Magic Kingdom.  Keegan found a way to fall asleep on nearly every ride.

We did so much walking around, even Darlene had to sit down and take a break once in a while! Another highlight of the trip was Keegan's apparant aversion to giant hairy monsters. She wanted no part of Sully.

We, of course, made it to the Princess Breakfast, so Princess Giana could visit with all her pals. In case you can't read it clearly, Keegan's shirt reads "President Not Princess." You'll never guess who picked that shirt out. For New Year's Eve, we headed over to Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort to hang out with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and the always entertaining Pluto

Keegan also was sporting her Couture Minnie overalls outfit complete with a crocheted hat made by Auntie Ney. There were definitely some oohs and aahs as we strolled around that night. And I'll leave you with this little clip of Keegan rolling around the bed at night, winding down from a long day of park hopping.

Darlene on CAN-TV!

One of the reasons I love my job so much (of course, besides the fact that I hang out with puppies and kitties all day long!) is that I get to do so many different things around the shelter. The following is a link to my CAN-TV (local cable access network) debut earlier in December. I was the guest on the show that night talking about our foster program. I've done some television interviews in the past, and have done some radio spots as well, and overall, I have to say that I enjoy radio much more.
